Monitored Natural Attenuation Reports
MES can assess degradation when CSIA data is not available. An MNA evaluation should start with decreasing concentrations.

To ensure that the observed attenuation is degradation, we assess:

-
Increasing concentrations of end products
-
Presence of intermediates
-
Redox conditions conducive to remediation
-
Fermentable organic carbon capable of sustaining biodegradation (for reductive)
-
Continual supply of oxygen or nitrate (for oxidative)

MNA reports can be a great way to document biodegradation after the analytical budget has been exhausted by a plethora of VOC, end product and redox analyses.
