Fugitive Methane Forensics
MES can identify the source of fugitive methane, which can come from a variety of sources:
-
Commercial gas
-
Natural gas seeps
-
Improperly abandoned gas wells
-
Decomposing fill materials
-
Leakage from nearby landfills
-
Natural peat or marsh decomposition
-
Biodegradation of the organics in waste
produced by drilling

Some of these sources are biogenic, some are thermogenic, and some may even be a mix of both. To truly identify fugitive methane emissions, you need to go beyond just biogenic and thermogenic, and MES can do that.

Because methane can present an explosion hazard, sometimes time is a major concern in fugitive methane issues. There are many tools for investigating methane forensics, and we can work with you to develop a plan to get you what you need, when you need it.
