MES can identify the source of fugitive methane, which  can come from a variety of sources:

 

• Commercial gas

• Natural gas seeps

• Improperly abandoned gas wells

• Decomposing fill materials

• Leakage from nearby landfills

• Natural peat or marsh decomposition

• Biodegradation of the organics in waste
  produced by drilling

Some of these sources are biogenic, some are thermogenic, and some may even be a mix of both. To truly identify fugitive methane emissions, you need to go beyond just biogenic and thermogenic, and MES can do that.
